Scorpo ‘Aubaine’ Chardonnay 2015

Golden pale straw.  White peach, juicy Pakenham  pears, granny smith apples and spice on the nose.  The palate starts lean and tight with tastes of lemon/grapefruit opening to more generous melon with vanilla undertones.  Fine chalky finish

Scorpo Estate Chardonnay 2016

Colour: pale yellow straw with green tinges.
Nose: lemon citrus with subtle peach and apricot leading to leesy mushroom and anice spiciness.
Palate: from the warm 2016 vintage the palate is rich yet focused.  Beginning with citrus and stone fruit moving seamlessly into savoury undergrowth and leesy complexity.  Lingering spiciness and fresh acid finish  this deliciously generous and focused chardonnay.  This wine will keep developing infinite depth of flavour for many years to come.

Scorpo Estate Pinot Gris 2016

Lightly yellow copper in colour.  Apple, apricot and pear notes combine with leesy musk complexity.  More of the same on the palate with the texture that our Estate Gris is renowned for.  An excellent example of Peninsula Pinot Gris – silky, focused, unctuous.

Scorpo Estate Rose 2015

Vibrant salmon pink in colour this wine exhibits musk, raspberry, strawberry and rose petals on the nose.  The palate is generous yet focused with musk, truffles and wild berries.  Clean, crisp acid finish, with a hint of fine tannin.

Scorpo Estate Pinot Noir 2015

Vintage: a very low cropping year producing wines of great depth and intensity

Colour: vibrant red purple

Nose: notes of undergrowth, bramble, mushroom and spices moving into bright cherry pip and subtle oak

Palate: focused dark cherry fruit up front building to more earth and spice.  Late anise, darker fruit and mushroom notes to finish.  An intense wine of great length and complexity.

Scorpo ‘Noirien’ Pinot Noir 2016

Vibrant cherry red with purple hues.  Bright berry fruit and cherry nose with flint, oak and spices. Dark cherries, mushroom and spices on the savoury palate with silky tannins.  A wine of wonderful structure and persistence.

Scorpo Estate Shiraz 2016

Deep red/purple in colour.  An enchanting nose of rich dark berries with pepper, liquorice spiciness and earth.  Wonderfully structured with savoury notes and silky persistent tannins.  This is an elegant example of cool climate shiraz.

Scorpo ‘Eocene’ Chardonnay 2015

Vintage: 2013 was a strong vintage on the Mornington Peninsula with clean crops of excellent quality

Colour: vibrant pale straw

Nose: citrus notes give way to an exceedingly complex nose of stone fruit, vanilla, spicy fennel, finishing with leesy complexity and hints of oyster shell.

Palate:  focused to begin, the palate follows a tight yet generous line with more spice and fennel.  Opening to citrus, leesiness and subtle stone fruit the complexity continues to build.  Finishing with great persistence, purity and length this a wine befitting of the hallmark ‘Eocene ‘.

Scorpo ‘Bestia’ Pinot Grigio Tradizionale 2016

100% Pinot Grigio

Hue between burnt orange and a Mutabilis  rose.  Rich aromatics, spicy,heady.

Aroma – Red ‘Sensation’  pear . Oranges. Morello cherry. Refined

Palate grippy, wonderful texture.  Briny, spicy, intense, exotic. Savoury phenolics. Flavours of Mandarin, orange jube, mixed with pears.  Citrus pith and exotic spices accompany the long finish

 

Winemaking

Ripe grapes are  harvested –  30% Wholes bunch, 70% Destemmed in an open top fermenter.  5 day cold soak, indigenous ferment over two weeks.  Pressed after 30 days total.  Aged for 12months in French oak barriques.
